Agnieszka Cyl (birth name Agnieszka Grzybek ; born February 28, 1984 in Jelenia Góra ) is a former Polish biathlete .

Athletic career

Agnieszka Cyl lives in Jelenia Góra. She starts for MKS Karkonosze and is trained by Andrzej Kozinski.

She has been practicing biathlon since 2001 and has been a member of the Polish national team since 2003. In 2002 she took part in the Junior World Championship in Ridnaun . The best results were a 17th place in the pursuit and a seventh place with the relay. 2005 in Kontiolahti was a 14th place in the individual best result. At the Junior European Championships in Novosibirsk that same year , Cyl was eleventh in the sprint, seventh in the pursuit and won silver with the Polish relay. At the Senior European Championships in Langdorf in 2006 and in Bansko in 2007 , she could not achieve any results worth mentioning.

Since 2004 Cyl started in the Junior European Cup, since the following year in the European Cup. Towards the end of the 2005/06 season, the Polish woman was able to place single-digit ranks in five consecutive races in Martell and Gurnigel , including three places two and three.

At the beginning of the 2006/07 season, she advanced to the Biathlon World Cup . In her fourth individual race in Oberhof , Cyl was able to run close to the World Cup points with 32nd place.

The same placement she managed in the 2007/08 season in a singles in Pokljuka . In Pyeongchang she won points for the first time in the season as 24th in the sprint and 25th in the pursuit.

The Polish competed at the 2008 Biathlon World Championships in Östersund . In her first world championships she was 79th in the individual, 66th in the sprint and 7th in the Polish women's relay. At the World Cup in Hochfilzen, Agnieszka Cyl took third place together with the Polish relay women, the best result for a Polish relay.

The 2009/10 season also went well when she finished 14th in a sprint race in Östersund and achieved her best individual result in the World Cup with 12th place in the sprint in Antholz .

Agnieszka Cyl improved this result at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games when she finished 7th in the individual race. With the relay, she finished 12th.

In the 2010/11 season , Cyl was the strongest Polish woman. Among other things, she was able to improve her personal best in a sprint race in Presque Isle to sixth place.
