Agostino Ricci (General)

Agostino Ricci (born January 24, 1832 in Savona , † October 20, 1896 in Turin ) was an Italian general .

He studied law in Genoa , but joined a Lombard regiment as a lieutenant after the uprising in Milan in 1848 and, after the defeat of the revolution, transferred to a Sardinian line regiment, participated in the Crimean War and distinguished himself at Solferino in 1859. Promoted to captain, he was entrusted with the military lessons of Princes Umberto and Amadeo , in 1864 major and department head in the War Ministry, in 1866 secretary of the commission responsible for army reform and teacher at the war school, then brigadier general and finally appointed to the general staff. He was entrusted with several important missions, including as Lieutenant General in 1885 to Massaua . Elected deputy in 1885, he commanded the 4th Military Territorial Division in Coni until 1891 , then the 2nd Army Corps in Alessandria until 1894 . In 1894 he was appointed a member of the Senate .
