Agustín Hernández Navarro

Agustín Hernández Navarro (born February 29, 1924 in Mexico City ) is a Mexican architect and sculptor .

biography

Hernández studied at the National School of Architecture of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and received his diploma in 1954. He then designed numerous residential and office buildings and lectured at UNAM until 1968. In 1968 he founded the Escuela de Ballet Folklórico for sculptural architecture and went on some study trips. In 1970 he designed the Mexican pavilion in Osaka . His architecture training workshop, which was run from 1972 to 1975, was very well known. Between 1975 and 1980 he designed the Mexican military college, the Universidad Autónoma de Sinaloa , the Heroico Colegio Militar for the architectural firm Manuel González Rul . His buildings also include the meditation center completed in Cuernavaca in 1984 , the "Hernández House" from 1990 in his hometown and the 1995 Casa en el Aire . The current focus of his work is on sculpture and the design of furnishings.

He was a professor at the teaching workshops I and II of the Universidad Anáhuac and professor at the UNAM. Hernández has been a "numbered member" (Miembro de Número) of the Academia de Artes , a member of the Sistema Nacional de Creadores de Arte (SNCA) and the International Academy of Architecture (IAA) since 1991 .
