Ahmad Tajuddin

Ahmad Tajuddin (born June 4, 1913 in Bandar Seri Begawan , † June 4, 1950 in Singapore ) was the 27th Sultan of Brunei .

Ahmad Tajuddi was eleven years old when his father, the Sultan of Brunei, died. Due to his young age, a government council was formed, which was composed of high-ranking representatives and friends of the government family. This government council had power in Brunei until 1931. Then Ahmad Tajuddin was 18 years old and was able to take up government work. In the first year of his rule he visited England . There he made friends and visited the UK many more times.

When the Japanese invaded Brunei in the course of the Second World War , Ahmad Tajuddin was paid a generous pension and he was sent into exile. For Brunei, this meant submission to the Japanese emperor and forced ties to Hitler's fascists in Europe, with whom Japan had allied itself. During this time Tajuddin worked underground against the Japanese occupiers. When the Allies gradually defeated their opponents, they also succeeded in liberating Brunei in 1945. Thereupon Ahmad Tajuddin was appointed sultan again by the conquerors. He was also from the British King George VI. Knighted for his services in defeating the Japanese. He was one of the first non-British people, although Brunei was under British rule, to whom this honor was best.

Ahmad Tajuddin died on June 4, 1950 on his 37th birthday of an internal hemorrhage in Singapore , while he was on his way to another trip to England. In his office as Bruneiischer Sultan he was by Omar Ali Saifuddin III. which was to rule in Brunei until 1967. Ahmad Tajuddin was married several times. His first marriage took place in 1933 when he was twenty years old and married the daughter of the Sultan of Selangor . From this marriage came a daughter. He married three more times and fathered three more children.
