Location of Aich in Bavaria

Aich is a district in the north-west of the Bavarian market Altdorf in the Landshut district .

Originally, farmers and handicraft businesses settled near the Pfettrach brook in Aich, and in the past centuries they made use of the course of the brook by means of mill wheels. Some of the historic buildings from the early 19th century are still preserved today.

The region has undergone brisk changes since 1970, at the same time as the construction of the federal motorway 92 , the 330 m long Pfettrachtal bridge running just under a kilometer to the west.

In 1980 Aich was still a hamlet with two farms. These were connected to Altdorf by the street that now bears the street name Aich in Altdorf (→ districts of Altdorf ). In 1952 the settlement area Am Kleinfeld between Aich and Altdorf was developed, and in 1982 the old federal road 299 was moved north. As a result of these construction measures and the increase in population, Aich was geographically taken over by Altdorf.

The Altdorf northern bypass , which was created in 2012, is called Am Aicher Feld and is located north of Aich.
