Eugenbach is a district of the Altdorf market in the Lower Bavarian district of Landshut . Until 1971 it formed an independent municipality.

Eugenbach is located on the edge of the Isar valley near the A 92 about two kilometers southwest of Altdorf, with which it has merged south of Eugenbacher Straße. St. George's Church towers high above the village on the Kirchenberg.

history

Like Altdorf and other localities on the edge of the Isar valley, Eugenbach is a very old settlement area. The striking Kirchenberg was probably used as a refuge in prehistoric times and was expanded to resemble a castle. Yupinpach is listed for the first time on November 11th, 822 in a document from the Regensburg Monastery . Possibly the name can be traced back to lovisura , which means a street station, mentioned in a Roman street directory . As in Altdorf, there was a Roman villa rustica (country house) in Eugenbach , to which a pottery was also attached.

The original parish of Eugenbach was formed around 750 from the original simple pastoral care provided by the St. Emmeram monastery . With the rise of the pilgrimage to "Our Lady" from Altdorf, the growing tasks of parish pastoral care shifted more and more to Altdorf in the 14th century. Eugenbach was considered a closed Hofmark , but did not have its own seat.

On May 17, 1818 after the revised Gemeindeedikt the community Eugenbach formed. According to the municipal ordinance of the Royal Ministry of the Interior of April 29, 1869, Eugenbach with 320 souls, Pfettrach with 329 souls, Münchnerau with 362 souls and Altdorf with 633 souls should be united to form a so-called Mayor's Office Altdorf. This reform project failed. Only in the course of the regional reform in Bavaria was the municipality of Eugenbach incorporated into the municipality of Altdorf with effect from January 1, 1971.

In 1885, a school was built in Eugenbach. It existed until the completion of the school center in Altdorf in 1972, which the Eugenbach students took over.
