Aichryson palmense is a species of the genus Aichryson in the thick-leaf family(Crassulaceae).

Vegetative characteristics

Aichryson palmense grows as a two or three year old, glandular hairy, herbaceous plant and reaches heights of growth of up to 20 centimeters. The shoots , which are clearly covered with hair , have a diameter of about 6 millimeters. The lower branches are spreading widely and spread out. Their broadly egg-shaped, pointed or rounded, densely hairy, sticky leaves are 25 to 45 millimeters long and 20 to 30 millimeters wide. They narrow into a distinct, up to 20 millimeter long stem . The leaf blade is widest near the base .

Generative characteristics

The loose inflorescence has few flowers . The eight to nine-fold flowers are on an 8 to 20 millimeter long peduncle and have a diameter of 12 to 14 millimeters. Their sepals are hairy glandular. The pale yellow, lanceolate, pointed petals are 6 to 7 millimeters long.

Systematics and distribution

Aichryson palmense is common on La Palma at heights of 300 to 800 meters.

The first description by Carl August Bolle was published in 1859.

A nomenclature synonym is Sempervivum palmense (Webb ex Bolle) Christ (1888).
