Aidan O'Donnell

Aidan O'Donnell (* around 1980 in Glasgow ) is a British jazz musician ( double bass ).

Act

O'Donnell studied jazz bass at the Birmingham Conservatoire between 1999 and 2003 . After completing his bachelor's degree, he returned to Scotland to be a member of both the Tommy Smith Quartet and the Colin Steele Quintet. In November 2003 he moved to London, where he became a member of Alan Skidmore's quartet , but also worked freelance with a variety of musicians. He has performed with guest artists such as Dave Binney and Charles McPherson . Since 2008 he studied with John Patitucci at City College in New York, where he has lived ever since. He has performed in New York with Steve Kuhn , Ben Monder , David Berkman and Darol Anger . He has also given concerts with the Kuhn Trio at the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal and in Europe. He can be heard on albums with Colin Steele, Frank Harrison, Alan Skidmore, Maeve Gilchrist, Frank Perowsky , the JC Sanford Orchestra, Jeff Hirshfield / Rainer Böhm , Jon De Lucia / Ted Brown and Michika Fukumori .
