Aising is a district of the independent city of Rosenheim in Upper Bavaria . The district is located in the south of Rosenheim.

history

The place name Aising developed from the early medieval Agusinga via Agasinga, Eigisingen, Aisingen, Aysing to today's Aising. It is derived from the personal name Aghis , a Bavarian clan leader, (Old High German: agiso = horror), after the jump of joy, the place of Aghis . The place was first mentioned in a document in 778 as Agusinga in a traditional Freising document. During the tenure of Bishop Arbeo (764 to 784), the priest Willapato gave his possessions in Rupilinga (Raubling) and Agusinga (Aising) to Freising. The further development of the name based on documentary mentions changed from Agasinga in 1060 to Eigisingen in 1145 and Aisingen in 1180. The place was called Aysing since the 14th century.

The Church of St. Stephen and its cemetery has been documented since 1315. A pilgrimage to the 14 helpers in need has been known in Aising since the middle of the 17th century. The current parish church in Aising was rebuilt towards the end of the 15th century. The remains of a Romanesque church have been preserved.

On May 1, 1978, Aising was incorporated into the city of Rosenheim.
