Westerndorf (Rosenheim)
Westerndorf am Wasen is a district of Rosenheim in Upper Bavaria . The church village is located in the south of the urban area and has around 300 inhabitants.
geography
The name is derived from the main town Pang , Westerndorf is to the west of it. There are two different names in use: Westerndorf am Wasen and Westerndorf bei Pang .
In the center is the well-known pilgrimage church of St. Johann Baptist and Holy Cross , which is a branch church of the parish of the Assumption of Mary in Pang and thus belongs to the Rosenheim - Am Wasen district church. One of the special events of the year is the patronage festival . In December there is a festive service on Christmas Day, as well as on Whit Monday and on the Saturday after Easter. On Kirtasonntag a special custom in Western Village is practiced: the Kirta-dealing. The youth meet in the afternoon at the landlord's and then go to stations in the village, in Oberkaltbrunn, Hohenofen and Stocka.
Next to the church is an inn and the fire station of the fire fighting group Westerndorf, which belongs to the Pang volunteer fire department . There is also a city bus stop with hourly connections to Rosenheim, Pang, Aising and Aisingerwies.
The Westerndorfer Weiher, located at the western end of the village, becomes the region's meeting point in winter. Young people meet here to play ice hockey . A small circular path also leads along the water. There are also groups for ice stock sport .
There are numerous hamlets and smaller villages around Westerndorf . First of all, the larger district of Pang east of Westerndorf should be mentioned. To the west, on the 2010 state road, is Stocka. Behind the motorway bridge in Stocka lies the Wasserwiesen area, known for its fish farming ( Raubling municipality ). To the north of Westerndorf lies Schlipfham on an elevation. On the Kalten lies Oberkaltbrunn with the Plackermühle, further in the direction of Pang lies Unterkaltbrunn. Hohenofen and Brucklach are on Hohenofener Strasse, a few hundred meters northwest on a hill called Pösling. The Aussiedlerhöfe on the Esterfeld are in the Panger fields.
politics
Part-time farmer Georg Kaffl (CSU) from Westerndorf is represented on the Rosenheim city council.
societies
Public life in Westerndorf is shaped by the activities of numerous clubs. Particularly noteworthy are the Löschgruppe Westerndorf, the Panger Trachtenverein, the Westerndorfer altar boys and the Catholic rural youth movement Aising-Pang.
church
The first mention of the branch and pilgrimage church St. Johann Baptist und Heilig Kreuz is set to the year 1315. In 1652 Pastor Waldherr spoke of a church in need of repair.
Constantin Pader probably designed the plan for the current church. The Schliersee master mason Georg Zwerger built the church in 1668 within one year. Only the old tower substructure remained. At the same time, the cemetery chapel was built. In 1669 Zwerger completed the stucco . The church was presumably consecrated in 1670. Due to a lack of funds, the last side altar was not completed until 1691.
The Westerndorf Church was completely renovated inside by 1996.
