Aïssa Maïga (born May 25, 1975 in Dakar ) is a Senegalese - French actress , screenwriter and director .

Life

Aïssa Maïga was born in Dakar to a Malian father and a Senegalese- Gambian mother . When she was four years old, the family moved to Paris . After graduating from high school, Maïga decided to study theater in Saint-Denis , which she finished after a few months because she found the lessons too theoretical. After working as a waitress for a while , she starred in the musical La nuit la plus longue . She got her first film role in the short film Le Royaume du Passage and starred in Saraka Bo on the side of Yvan Attal and Richard Bohringer . She quickly rose to become a star of French cinema and played a. a. in films by directors Michael Haneke ( Caché ) , Claude Berri and Alain Tanner . She directed the film Il faut quitter Bamako . For her role in The Last Judgment of Bamako , Aïssa Maïga was nominated in 2007 for the César as best young actress.
