Akademickie Radio Kampus is a radio station from the University of Warsaw , the largest university in Poland . It is the first and only student radio station in Warsaw that can be received terrestrially and mainly plays alternative music away from the mainstream.

history

"Jesteśmy, nadajemy, od dziś 97.1 FM to Radio Kampus" (German: "We are there. We are broadcasting. From today on 97.1 FM is Radio Kampus"). With these words from Robert Gajewski, the station started its program on June 1, 2005 and has since broadcast a full 24-hour program on VHF 97.1 MHz within a radius of 30 km from Warsaw . The station can also be received worldwide via the Internet via live stream. Every day, and therefore regularly, around 18,000 listeners in Mazovia tune into the Polish-language channel. Advertising has also been broadcast since 2006.

Akademickie Radio Kampus is a member of the network of “Polish Academic Radio Stations ” (Polish: “ Polskie Rozgłośnie Akademickie ”, PRA), a group of currently nine student radio stations in Poland. In addition to Akademickie Radio Kampus, there is another academic radio project in the Polish capital, Radio Aktywne , an internet radio from the Technical University of Warsaw , which is not a member of the network of university broadcasters in Poland .

The editorial team of the academic broadcaster consists mainly of students. They make up the majority of the station's key editors. In this way, the radio realizes its educational mandate and enables the professional training of journalists and radio professionals in practice. The work of the students is based on the principle of voluntary work ( traineeship ) and they do not receive any remuneration for it. Under the supervision of experienced journalists from public or private broadcasting, the students are responsible for the functioning of the station, the program content, the training and further education as well as the admission of applicants.

program

music

The musical profile was created by the music journalist Wojtek "Froy" Rodek, who previously belonged to the Polish radio stations Radio Bogoria and RadioJAZZ.FM . New music is on the station's playlist, especially from the years 2000 to today. A lot of space is given to young Polish artists and their media presence ensures their success. The station was deliberately not formatted according to a certain music genre, but rather aims at listeners who are open to music from a wide variety of directions, made possible by the music programs created by the editors and authors. The most successful program of Akademickie Radio Kampus is the interactive music program "Alternator" and is designed together with the listeners, who can vote on selected numbers by phone, SMS, MMS or Gadu-Gadu . Musical novelties, new records and interviews with artists are presented three times a week in the music magazine "Magazyn Muzyczne" . There are music programs from various editors on weekdays. Every day has a different character - from metal to rock , brit-pop , ethno, country , blues , hip-hop and electronic music . Every year in October, the station organizes large anniversary concerts , at which Polish stars of the alternative music scene perform (including the Polish bands Afro Kolektyw, Coma, Hurt, Jamal, Łona, OSTR, Vavamuffin etc.). The concerts also serve to welcome new students to Warsaw.

news

Every hour, Akademickie Radio Kampus broadcasts prepared news (Polish: "Wiadomości" ) from the information desk (Polish: "redakcja informacji " ). In addition to academic information, the station’s journalists focus on life in the Polish capital. An information service for students is also sent on weekdays.

Culture

An important element of the station is the independent and alternative cultural landscape in Warsaw and Poland. There are over 25 different cultural programs on the air every week. The programs offer young artists a platform to present their works. Creative people are invited to the studio to present their work as part of the program. The information is selected with the audience in mind. Often these are young, intelligent listeners interested in independent culture. The editorial team provides information about the activities of various organizations, clubs and associations and works with them. The program "Zwiastunów kulturalnych" (German: cultural opening credits), a program about the film, theater and book scene, gives three times a day in compressed portions information about concerts, festivals, independent theaters, comics and young authors. There are also editorial programs like "Mikser kulturalny" (German: Kultur-Mixer), which presents cultural events, "Więcej kultury" (German: more culture), "Jeszcze Więcej Kultury" (German: even more culture), "Kronika wypadków filmowych" (German: Chronicle of filmic events), "Wolny dostęp" (German: free access; through books), "Za kulisami" (German: behind the scenes; through theater).

students life

From Monday to Friday, the two-hour "Studenteria" program covers topics related to student life in Warsaw. The student editorial team tries to fight against the prevailing stereotype in Poland of the student who only studies. In addition to topics that are important for students, the station also presents socially relevant topics. Much space is devoted to career planning. The courses and the university itself are also presented.

"Editorial staff"

The so-called "editorial staff" (cf. Polish: "redakcja publicystyki" ) deals journalistically with very different topics and designs the morning and afternoon programs . In addition to her reports, she deals with issues in the student environment, which they talk about in the magazine "Erka" . Another broadcast on Akademickie Radio Kampus is, for example, "Kierunek psychologia" (German: "Direction Psychologie"; about psychology).

Sports

The daily sports service summarizes the most important sporting events of the day. The program "Warszawski Fan" (German: "Warschauer Fan") provides a program every Sunday which is dedicated to sports topics. The makers of the show are mainly concerned with the events in the capital of Poland, but they also take into account the main sporting events in Poland and the rest of the world. The radio correspondents are present at football games of KP Legia Warszawa , KSP Polonia Warszawa and Znicz Pruszków , games of the basketball department of KSP Polonia Warszawa and volleyball games of the AZS Politechnika Warszawsk , the Warsaw Technical University, and the AZS UW Warszawa . The programs also provide information on the Polish American football and rugby leagues . Other events on the reports are, the marathon of Mazovia ( MTB Mazovia Marathon ), the Warsaw handball games, the Warsaw Marathon ( Maraton Warszawski ), the road cycling race Tour de Pologne (Polish: "Wyścig dookoła Polski" ) u. v. a. In the "Extrema" program , three editors report on extreme sports events. Guests of the show were well-known Polish athletes such as Mateusz Kusznierewicz ( sailing ) and Jagna Marczułajtis (snowboard).
