Akira Okazawa
Akira Okazawa ( Japanese 岡 沢 章 , Okazawa Akira ; * around 1950) is a Japanese jazz and fusion musician ( electric bass ).
Akira Okazawa played from the early 1970s with Jiro Inagaki , Sadao Watanabe , Hiromasa Suzuki , Isao Suzuki , Terumasa Hino , Kiyoshi Sugimoto , Yuji Ohno , Yasuaki Shimizu , Toots Thielemans and Art Pepper , also in the formations Eiji Arai & The Beatsounds, The Players, Tokyo's Coolest Combo and in You & The Explosion Band . In the 1980s and 1990s he accompanied a. a. also the singers Yasuko Agawa , Kimiko Itoh , Harumi Kaneko ; he also worked with Masaru Imada , Makoto Ozone , Hiroko Kokubu and Masahiko Satō .
In 1973 he released the album Girisha ni Tsuite Kakareta Tai ( ギ リ シ ャ に つ い て 書 か れ た 本 ) under his own name at Nippon Columbia , on which Jiro Inagaki , Norio Maeda , Takeshi Kamachi , Tsunehide Matsuki and Hajime Ishimatsu participated. In the field of jazz, Tom Lord lists him in 56 recording sessions between 1973 and 2010, most recently with the singer Keiko Lee ( Smooth , inter alia with George Duke ). As a studio musician, he also worked with the ukulele player Jake Shimabukuro and the pop duo Puffy , and from 1978 onwards on numerous soundtracks for anime films and computer games.
