Tsunehide Matsuki

Tsunehide Matsuki ( Japanese 松 元 恒 秀 , Matsuki Tsunehide ; born August 8, 1948 , † June 18, 2017 ) was a Japanese studio, jazz and fusion musician (guitar).

Tsunehide Matsuki played in the Japanese music scene from the early 1970s; The first recordings were made in 1973 with Jiro Inagaki's band Soul Media ( In the Groove ). In the following years he worked mainly as a studio musician with artists such as Meiko Kaji , Kenji Sawada , Joe Yamanaka , Kimiko Kasai , Tatsuro Yamashita , Taeko Onuki and Kentarō Shimizu , and also in the formations Eiji Arai & The Beatsounds and The Players . In the field of jazz / fusion he worked a. a. with Kiyoshi Sugimoto , Kei Ishiguro , Yasuo Agawa , Hiromasa Suzuki , George Otsuka , 1979 with Art Pepper .

In 1980 he and Toots Thielemans presented the joint fusion album Kaleidoscope , on which Naoya Matsuoka (piano, arrangements), Shigeharu Mukai , Shuichi Murakami , Yasuaki Shimizu , Kiyoshi Shugimoto and Hidefumi Toki were also involved. He continued to work with Harumi Kaneko , Nancy Wilson ( Keep You Satisfied ), Masaru Imada , Kimiko Itoh and Salena Jones through the 1980s and 1990s .

In the field of jazz, Tom Lord lists him in 37 recording sessions between 1973 and 1998. As a studio musician, he worked on numerous soundtracks of anime films and computer games from 1978 .
