Naoya Matsuoka

Naoya Matsuoka ( Japanese 松岡 直 也 , Matsuoka Naoya ; born May 9, 1937 in Honmoku, Yokohama ; † April 29, 2014 ) was a Japanese jazz and fusion musician ( piano , keyboard , arrangement ).

Naoya Matsuoka led a trio from 1954, u. a. with Masahiko Togashi , as well as other formations. He presented his debut album Fiesta Fiesta in 1979 ; In the 1980s, a number of Latin jazz , funk and fusion-influenced productions followed for Warner Brothers such as Live at Montreux Festival (1980), Kaleidoscope (1980), Natsu no Tabi ( 夏 の 旅 , "Sommerreise") , Danzon (1981), Fall on the Avenue (1982) or Majestic (1988). During this time he also worked with Shigeharu Mukai , Tsuyoshi Yamamoto and Hidefumi Toki . He has also composed music for anime films and TV series such as Heart Cocktail (1986).
