Nude photography - z. B. Gundula Schulze is a documentary from DEFA Studios for Documentaries by Helke Misselwitz from 1984 .
action
This color documentary begins with women's hands leafing through Klaus Fischer's illustrated book "Nude Photography" from VEB- Fotokinoverlag Leipzig . The scrolling is briefly interrupted in large-format color and black-and-white photographs.
In this film we get to know the photographer Gundula Schulze and her attitude towards nude photography . She talks about her job and the difficulties in putting the whole personality of women in their photos in the right light. Again and again she is disappointed when she sees that magazines, newspapers and films keep showing the same images over the years, which have nothing to do with today's position of women. She reports on her efforts to take the women portrayed out of fear and shame through trust, so that their whole character can be captured. She also tells how inexperienced models can hide some small flaws in their figure. She feels it is her task to give the models self-confidence through the discussions and thus to strengthen their character and personality. She tries several times to confirm her opinion by showing her own large-format photographs.
Between the scenes and conversations with Gundula Schulze, everyday scenes of working cashiers in a department store are shown in black and white .
