Al-Oruba SC ( Arabic نادي العروبة الرياضي, also known as Al-Marid or just Al-Oruba ) is an Omani football club from Sur . The club plays in the Oman Professional League , the top division of the Oman Football Association . He plays his home games at the State-owned Sur Sports Complex . Even though the club, which is four-time Omani champions and cup winners, is mainly known for football, it also has departments for hockey , volleyball , handball , basketball , badminton and squash. Al-Oruba has a unique fan culture, with an orchestra playing traditional Arabic music at every home game .

history

The association was officially founded in 1970, but it actually came into being under the name Al-Ahli in 1956 in Kuwait . When Sultan Qaboos ibn Said came to power in 1970 , many Omanis living abroad returned to Oman . In November 1970, the members of the association met for the first time in Oman. A year later the club was renamed Al-Oruba SC . The association was officially registered on June 26, 2002.
