Alfred Fitch

Alfred Fitch ( Alfred Lord Fitch , also Al Fitch for short ; born December 1, 1912 in New York City , † February 17, 1981 in Orange , California) was an American athlete who essentially sprinted on the long 400-meter sprint -Run started .

In the qualifying competitions for the 1936 Olympics, he was fourth among the top five, all of which started for California. His best time was a hand-stopped 47.0 s in the 1936 NCAA competitions, just behind Archie Williams with 47.0 s. On the course over 440 yards he was in May 1936 at the competitions of the Pacific Coast Conference in Berkeley second with his best time of 47.4 s.

For the United States he started in the athletics competitions of the Olympic Games in Berlin in 1936 in the relay competition on the 400-meter course . Together with Harold Cagle , Robert Young and Edward O'Brien , he won the silver medal in 3: 11.0 min.
