Al Matthews (born November 21, 1942 in Brooklyn , New York - † September 23, 2018 in Orihuela , Spain ) was an American actor and singer .

Life

Matthews served with the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and retired after six years as a sergeant with two Purple Hearts . In 1971 he moved to England , where he first appeared as a singer. In 1975 he entered the British single charts with the single Fool . The title stayed in the charts for eight weeks and rose to position 16. It did not achieve any further chart successes, it remained a one-hit wonder . He also worked as a presenter at BBC Radio 1 , played at the Tricycle Theater in Kilburn and in various television productions.

Matthews has had minor film roles in several internationally successful cinema productions. Usually it was little more than extras and subordinate supporting roles. He had a slightly larger supporting role as Sergeant Apone in Aliens: The Return .
