Alain Hamer

Alain Hamer (born December 10, 1965 in Luxembourg City ) is a former Luxembourg football referee. Hamer is a bank employee and lives in Waldbillig .

Hamer got his first license as an active footballer at the age of 15 with CS Pétange . Since he did not trust himself a career in the national division and, according to his own statement, was free of talent, the Luxembourger decided to pursue a career as a football referee. In 1993 he was promoted to FIFA referee. In his career he led a. a. Matches in the French Ligue 1 , the Belgian championship and the UEFA Champions League . He also whistled at various junior tournaments, such as B. the U21 European Championship in 1998 and the Junior World Championship in 2001. In 2004 Alain Hamer became fourth officialselected for the European Football Championship in Portugal .

Only a participation in a world championship was denied to the Luxembourger, as he was deleted from the list of participants shortly before the 2006 World Cup finals. According to Hamer, it should have come to unfair things and it was mainly political reasons that were decisive for his final non-nomination for the 2006 World Cup.

On the UEFA list - 2007 international referee he was one of 24 elite referees.

After his last appearance in December 2010, Hamer ended his referee career at the age of 45. Hamer is openly gay .
