James Gustave Jules Alain de Rothschild (born January 7, 1910 in Paris , † October 17, 1982 in New York ) was a member of the French branch of the Rothschild family and worked as a banker .

Life

Alain de Rothschild was the son of Robert de Rothschild (1880-1946) and his wife Gabrielle Beer (1886-1945). His brother was Élie de Rothschild . He was married to Mary Chauvin du Treuil since 1938. Her son is Eric de Rothschild .

Shortly after the attack on France began in May 1940, he became a German prisoner of war, where he stayed at Colditz Castle until the end of the war in 1945 .
