Alan Christopher Judge (born November 11, 1988 in Dublin ) is an Irish football player who plays as a winger for the English club Ipswich Town .

Career

Blackburn Rovers

Judge began his career as a youth player with the Blackburn Rovers until he made the leap into the first team in the 2007/08 season at the age of 17, for which he scored seven goals. He made his debut on the grid in January 2009 in the FA Cup beating the Blyth Spartans . He then signed a contract until June 2011 before being loaned to Plymouth Argyle .

At the end of the 2009/10 season, Judge said he was openly ready for a move, which he commented with the words "I still have a year at Blackburn, but I think my time here will probably end this summer" .

Plymouth Argyle

He made his debut for Plymouth against Ipswich Town as a substitute. He was soon in the starting line-up and scored his first goal for his new club against Burnley FC in March 2009, followed by a goal against Coventry City in April. By the end of the season, Judge had made 17 appearances.

When he returned to Blackburn, he played a few preseason games, such as the friendlies against AS Roma and Nacional Funchal of Portugal , before being loaned out to Plymouth again in the 2009/10 season. There he immediately played on the starting line-up again and immediately scored three goals against Derby County in August, Scunthorpe United in October and against Doncaster Rovers in November, four days before his 21st birthday. He scored his first brace in a 4-1 win over Reading FC . Plymouth was relegated that season despite those victories and Judge returned to Blackburn before his contract ended.

Notts County

On August 31, 2010, he signed a six-month loan with Notts County . The loan ended on January 1, 2011, but was extended by a month so that he was still available for Notts County for the upcoming games. On January 14, 2011, Judge confirmed that he was moving to Notts County and had already signed a two-year contract, but a few days later he broke a metatarsal bone in his right foot against Hartlepool United and was sidelined for seven weeks. His first game after his injury break was against Swindon Town , where he equalized before Lee Hughes scored the winning goal. His outstanding form at the time also earned him the titles for Player of the Month for November and December. He believed that he owed this good shape to then Notts County manager Martin Allen. “I had a meeting with Martin and it was really encouraging. He said I have to play with a lot more confidence and that's what he gave me. ” At the end of the season, he had eight goals and 13 assists and won the“ Player of the Year ”and“ Fan ”awards. Player of the year ”for the 2011/12 season.

He ended the 2012/13 season with three league goals, eleven assists and one nomination for Player of the Season. Before the start of the new season, however, it was announced that Judge would not renew his contract as he expressed a desire to play in a higher division. “There comes a time when you think it's time to leave and I've given everything for this club, but I'm looking for a new challenge. I am an ambitious person and I want to try myself on a new level. "

Return to the Blackburn Rovers

On May 16, 2013, his return to Blackburn Rovers was announced. On July 1, 2013, he signed a three-year contract. After a mixed first half of the season with only eleven inserts, Judge was loaned out to Brentford FC in the second half of the season, for whom he scored seven goals.
