Luke Chambers (born September 28, 1985 in Kettering ) is an English football player who has been active at Ipswich Town since 2012 .
Club career
Northampton Town
Born in Kettering ( Northamptonshire ), Luke Chambers played in his youth at Northampton Town . In 2003 he signed a professional contract in Northampton and played in the first season in the fourth highest English division, which was renamed Football League Two after the restructuring of the lower leagues since the 2004/05 season . In the 2005/06 season Chambers succeeded with his team promotion to Football League One . The 2006/07 season ended Northampton in fourth place and was thus able to confidently hold the class.
Nottingham Forest
His former Northampton coach Colin Calderwood brought him to Nottingham Forest in January 2007 during the current season . Chambers remained in the third division and in the East Midlands , but his new club had different ambitions than his previous one. In his second season in 2007/08, he and his new team were promoted to the Football League Championship and thus to the second English division.
In August 2008, Luke Chambers signed for another three years and was initially under contract with Nottingham until 2011 . Even after his former coach and supporter Colin Calderwood had to make way for the new coach Billy Davies , Chambers was able to maintain his place in the team and contributed with his good performances to stay in the Football League Championship 2008/09 . In the 2009/10 season he played 23 games in which he scored three goals. After the return of the injured Kelvin Wilson , however, he lost his regular place under coach Billy Davies and was used less often towards the end of the season. Forest failed after a third place in the table in the play-off against the later Premier League promoted FC Blackpool .
In August 2010 he extended his contract with the Reds to the end of June 2012. In terms of sport, Chambers were doing better in the Football League Championship 2010/11 than last year. In addition to Wes Morgan , he formed the central defense of the team and reached the play-off semi-finals again with a sixth place. There, however, the team failed on Swansea City and thus again missed promotion.
Ipswich Town
On July 9, 2012, Luke Chambers signed a three-year contract with Ipswich Town .
