Alattyán [ ˈɒlɒcːaːn ] is a municipality on the western bank of the Zagyva River in Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County in Hungary .
location
Alattyán is about 90 m above sea level, north of Szolnok and southeast of Jászberény . The village can be reached via Landstrasse 32.
Surname
The name Alattyán can be derived from the Turkish personal name Alîp-Tîyan , which means 'heroic falcon'. Etymologically, the name is also related to the Hungarian place names Alap and Alpár , such as the noun turul (old: 'falcon').
The second part is more related to the Turkish word "doğan", which comes from the Old Turkish "togan" and also means "falcon". "turul" itself is related to the Turkish "tuğrul" <atü. "toġrїl" = "falcon".
history
The place was first mentioned in 1212 in the Regestrum of Várad (lat. Regestrum Varadiense ) under the name Olaptiuã . At the end of the 14th century the settlement was owned by the Kun family, later it came into the possession of the Chyrke family.
An Avar cemetery was discovered in Alattyán .
In the 15th century the village was a Cuman settlement.
The settlement was hardly damaged during the Turkish occupation, but more losses were recorded in later wars.
Around 1700, many Moravian settlers came to the village.
Alattyán and Jásztelek were merged in 1977, but have been independent again since 1989.
