Albert Brown

Albert Braune (born April 14, 1799 in Leipzig ; † September 12, 1848 there ) was a German doctor . He taught at the University of Leipzig .

Life

Albert Braune began studying medicine at the university in his hometown in 1818. In 1826 he received his doctorate and qualified as a professor . He then acted as a private lecturer . The university appointed him extraordinary professor of medicine in 1834, and four years later he was given the full professorship. He held this until his death in 1848 at the age of 49. Braune supervised and completed the pharmacognostic collection of the university created by his predecessor Wilhelm Andreas Haase and opened it to interested students.

Braune was married to Louise Vogel, daughter of the Leipzig bookseller Friedrich Christian Wilhelm Vogel . The marriage had three children, including the anatomist Christian Wilhelm Braune .
