Albert Fourié
Albert Auguste Fourié (born April 24, 1854 in Paris , † December 17, 1937 in Saint-Raphaël ) was a French sculptor, painter and illustrator.
Albert Fourié studied at the École des beaux-arts de Paris , initially sculpture with Jean Gautherin . He made his debut in 1877 as a sculptor with a female terracotta bust, then turned to painting and continued his studies with Jean-Paul Laurens .
He mainly devoted himself to nude and genre painting. He exhibited his works in the Salon of the Société des Artistes Français and received several medals, including one in gold in 1889. He also dealt with etching and lithography.
He spent part of the year with other painter friends in the Villa Les Charmilles, bought in 1891, in the fishing village of Yport in the Pays de Caux region on the English Channel .
In 1887 he showed the large-format painting A Wedding Meal in Yport in the salon , which brought him a success and was bought by the state.
He illustrated the works of Gustave Flaubert , Victor Hugo , Alphonse Daudet and Guy de Maupassant , and from 1887 to 1888 also provided printing templates for "Paris illustré".
