Albert Güldenpenning

Albert Güldenpenning (born February 17, 1854 in Anklam ; † August 29, 1896 ) was a German classical philologist and high school teacher.

Güldenpenning attended grammar school in Anklam until 1874 and then studied classical philology, history and geography in Greifswald , Berlin and Halle . On May 2, 1878, he received his doctorate in Halle with the dissertation "The sources for the history of the Emperor Theodosius the Great". This work was published together with Julius Ifland's dissertation and is still of value today as a thorough source analysis. Then he attended the seminar for high school teachers in Szczecin .

Since autumn 1881 he taught at the high school in Pyritz , since October 1, 1888 at the high school in Stargard in Pomerania . At Easter 1890 he took part in the first archaeological course for high school teachers at the German Archaeological Institute in Berlin, and in autumn 1891 one in Italy.

Since December 1, 1892 he was a teacher at the grammar school in Dramburg . In 1894/95 he received half a travel grant from the German Archaeological Institute for high school teachers with whom he spent half a year in Athens and from there toured Greece.
