Binalbagan is a municipality in the province of Negros Occidental on the island of Negros in the Philippines . It has 67,270 inhabitants (August 1, 2015 census) who live in 16 barangays . It belongs to the 1st income bracket of the communities in the Philippines and is described as partially urbanized . It is located approximately 62 km south of Bacolod City . Travel time is around 90 minutes by bus and around 1 hour by car. Its neighboring communities are Hinigaran in the north, Isabella in the northwest, La Libertad in Negros Oriental in the east, Jimalalud in the southeast, and Himamaylan City in the south. In the west the community borders on the Gulf of Panay . The topography of the municipality is described as flat land in the west, and in the east the municipality extends into the Negros island mountains, in which the Mandalagan volcano is located.
