Cadiz City is the second largest city in the Negros Occidental Province , in the Philippines . According to the August 1, 2015 census, the city has a population of 154,723 people and the trend is increasing. The city is located at the mouth of the Cadiz River in the Visayas Sea and 65 kilometers north of the provincial capital Bacolod City .
Another major source of income is fishing and selling seafood. Three kilometers off the coast of Cadiz is the island of Lakawon , a popular leisure island for the local population.
Socio-economic conditions
Cadiz is the leading sugar producer in the region. Fishing and the fish processing industry are the main livelihoods for the population on the coast. 58% (86,724 people) in Cadiz live from fishing. Around 17,014 households are directly or indirectly dependent on fishing. There is a Philippine Normal University campus in the community .
