La Carlota City is located in the western part of the island of Negros , in the province of Negros Occidental . It is a fourth income city in the Philippines .
La Carlota City is an inland municipality and is enclosed by the cities and towns of Bago City in the north, the Kanlaon Volcano in the east, La Castellana in the southwest, Pontevedra in the south and San Enrique in the west. It extends over an area of 13,729 hectares and is divided into 14 barangays . The city is home to 64,469 people (August 1, 2015 census), 99% of whom speak the local Hiligaynon language.
The city received its town charter on June 19, 1965, based on the Republic Act 4585.
