The city of Victorias , also known as Victorias City , is located in the northeast of the island of Negros , in the province of Negros Occidental . It is a fourth income city in the Philippines .
According to the census of August 1, 2015, 87,933 people lived in the city. The city has a total of 26 barangays , which have a numerical name. The city of Victoria covers an area of 13,392 hectares. The Malihaw River flows through the urban area . The first settlement area was also called Malihaw and was first mentioned in 1850.
It is a young city that only received city rights on February 11, 1998. The basis for this was the Republic Act 8488, which the then President of the Philippines Fidel Ramos signed.
