Horst Rechenbach , main department head in the staff office of the Reichsbauernführer , had set the task of preparing a village clan book for each village . Köbele himself was in 1937/38 on the completion and publication of the very first book and the resulting instructions Das Dorfsippenbuch: Illustrated by means of a reading sample from the Dorfsippenbuch of the municipality of Lauf , Bühl Office, Baden / compiled in the staff office of the Reichsbauernführer after that of the Baden state farmers involved in made family book . In the 1939 Dorfsippenbuch Grafenhausen he is named as the sole editor.

After the war, Köbele continued to map church records in Baden with great personal commitment . From 1950 until his death he self-published 47 local clan books from 53 formerly independent communities in Baden. In addition, he earned services as a local chronicle and through his contributions to the magazine "Badische Familienkunde". Half of the revised edition of the Grafenhausen Ortssippenbuch, printed in 1971, consists of the village chronicle. - As an unmarried employee, Köbele lived in the house of his younger brother, who had taken over his father's farm in 1949 after his father's death.

Köbele's life's work is continued up to the present by the "Interest Group Badischer Ortssippenbücher" in Lahr / Black Forest . By 2015, the series “Badische Ortssippenbücher” founded by Köbele had published 174 volumes.

In 1992 a street in Grafenhausen was named after him.
