Albert Korir (born March 2, 1994 ) is a Kenyan marathon runner .

Career

In 2016 Albert Korir finished second in 2:10:08 h in the Barcelona Marathon and in 2:10:21 h in Toronto, third in the Toronto Waterfront Marathon .

In 2017 he won the Vienna City Marathon . Only 150 meters from the finish did he manage to break away from his compatriot Ishmael Bushendich and in 2:08:40 h he was the first to reach the finish with a two-second lead.

Both the Vienna City Marathon and the Toronto Waterfront Marathon are among the 27 (as of 2017) Gold Label Road Races of the IAAF , the Barcelona Marathon has a "Bronze Label Status". All three marathons thus had an international elite field in accordance with the IAAF criteria.

In 2018 he finished second with a personal best of 2:08:17 h at the Lake Biwa Marathon in Ōtsu, Japan. He also finished second in the Cape Town Marathon in 2:09:02 hours.

The then 24-year-old opened the 2019 season in January with a win at the Houston Marathon in 2:10:02 h. At the New York City Marathon in November, he finished second in 2:08:36 hours behind the Kenyan Geoffrey Kamworor .
