Albert Radke (* 1899 ; † 1979 ) was a German officer and from 1951 to 1964 Vice President of the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution , first under Otto John , then under Hubert Schrübbers .

Albert Radke joined an infantry regiment in 1917 as a flagjunker , served as an officer in the Reichswehr and from 1935 to 1937 was the Wehrmacht's liaison officer to the Gestapo . Since 1938 he was staff officer and during the war in the Abwehr in Münster and Vienna in the counter-espionage act. As a colonel , Radke was involved in the investigation of the participants in the July 20, 1944 assassination attempt . However, he initially came under suspicion himself and was therefore detained for two days. Corresponding allegations against him were dropped on September 14, 1944. As a precaution, however, he was transferred to the fighting force by the Abwehr and was taken prisoner by the Americans on March 2, 1945 .

From 1946 to 1950 Radke was a manager of the Gehlen organization under the code name "Riedinger" . In September 1950 he moved to the Federal Ministry of the Interior for a short time and in 1951 became Vice President of the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution. There he promoted the already existing practice of hiring people exposed to Nazism as so-called “freelancers” in order to generate success in counter-espionage. When this personnel policy and controversial bugging methods found their way into the public, Radke was given early retirement on July 31, 1964.
