Albert Eduard Rosenkranz (born March 2, 1876 in Hasten ; † July 31, 1975 in Düsseldorf-Kaiserswerth ) was a German Protestant pastor, theologian and archivist .

Life and meaning

Rosary was studying in Bonn , Berlin and Strasbourg Protestant theology and history, and in 1901 in Bonn to Dr. lic. theol. PhD on the basis of Wiclif's work on ethical and social outlook . After working for a year as a synodal vicar in Trier, he took over a parish office in Voerde (Lower Rhine) in 1903 and in 1908 moved to the German-speaking community in Liverpool . In 1915 he had to return to Germany because of the First World War and became assistant preacher in Nilvingen ( Lorraine ). From 1921 to 1938 he was pastor in Bad Kreuznach . Then he took over the management of the archive of the Rhenish Provincial Church in Bonn (from 1948: Archive of the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland ). He prepared to move the archive to Düsseldorf and retired in 1951.

Rosenkranz was co-editor of the monthly magazine for Rhenish church history and editor or author of numerous publications on Rhenish church history. In 1954, he was head of the Evangelical Theological Faculty of the University of Bonn with the honorary doctorate awarded.
