Albert Samuel Abraham Struik (also ASA Struik ; March 23, 1926 in Deventer - July 5, 2006 in Amsterdam ) was a Dutch book collector , primarily of books with publisher covers from the period 1880 to 1940.

Struik studied economics in Amsterdam. He worked as a publisher for Samsom, Alphen aan den Rijn and specialized in documentary publications.

He began collecting books from industrial book production as early as 1955. He realized that the cover and dust jacket are an integral part of a book. Collecting publisher's covers was an unusual field of collecting; there were very few collectors of this type of book in the world.

In 1973 Het Boek appeared as a nieuwe art. 1892-1903. A study in Art Nouveau by the book historian Ernst Braches . Stimulated by this, Struik began to document his collection more precisely, which, however, was quite difficult in view of the data situation in this area of book history. He recorded data on the binding, typography , vignettes and monograms and tried to make assignments to designers and manufacturers. He described about 11,000 volumes in this way.

Before his death in 2006, he left 8000 volumes of his collection at the University of Amsterdam . The other 3,000 went to the Meermanno-Westreenianum book museum in The Hague .
