Albert von Rhamm

Friedrich Franz Karl Albert von Rhamm (born September 7, 1846 in Helmstedt , † October 28, 1924 in Braunschweig ) was a German legal historian , judge , member of the Braunschweig parliament and state syndic .

Life

Rhamm came from a family of lawyers. His father Eduard was the last president of the Wolfenbüttel Higher Court , where Albert von Rhamm attended grammar school until 1865. He then studied law in Göttingen , Kiel , Berlin and Tübingen until 1868 . He was a participant in the Franco-Prussian War of 1870/71. From 1875 Rhamm worked at the Wolfenbüttel district court. After he was already a city councilor in Wolfenbüttel, he was elected to the Brunswick state parliament in 1882. On March 27, 1884 he succeeded Albert von Otto as state syndic, for which he was unanimously elected by the state assembly. Due to a progressive hearing impairment, Rhamm applied for early retirement in 1898, which, however, was unanimously rejected by the regional assembly due to his great merits. After his hearing loss continued to increase, he finally retired in 1908.

Rhamm held numerous honorary posts, for example he was on the board of the "Vaterländisches Museum", today's Braunschweigisches Landesmuseum . In addition, he was in the regional association of the Red Cross and a member of the honest clothing seller in Braunschweig .

From his marriage to his wife Emma geb. Spies had four children, including their daughter Käthe, married Buchler , a well-known amateur photographer of the early 20th century. The title of nobility "from" resumed Albert of Rhamm 1914th
