Research priorities

Ambrosio's main interest is in the question of how the religious manifests itself in different religions and how it interacts in different areas of culture. After having dealt with the mystical dimension of Islam for years, he is currently investigating the articulation between profane and religious fashion by reflecting on these sociocultural phenomena from a theological perspective and, in the spirit of the LSRS , also transforming theology. Since 2019 he has been leading a research project called Revêtir l'invisible: la religion habillée , which is jointly carried out by the LSRS and the Collège des Bernardins , where Ambrosio is also director of studies.

The interreligious and the interspiritual dialogue are also among Ambrosio's main research areas. Following on from this, he also deals with the question of the dialogue between spirituality and contemporary culture.
