Albin Gnos

Albin Gnos (born January 3, 1866 in Silenen ; † October 7, 1930 ibid, entitled to live in Silenen) was a Swiss politician ( Catholic Conservative ).

biography

Gnos worked as a mountain farmer in Frentschenberg and from 1905 was also a mail holder in Bristen . He was a good friend of Josef Furrer , the then governor of the canton of Uri .

In 1899 Gnos was elected to the town council of Silenen and had a seat there until 1902. From 1920 to 1924 he was then mayor . He also sat on the church council of Bristen from 1904 to 1912 and chaired it from 1908 to 1912. He also sat on the school council of Silenen from 1909 to 1912 and was president in his last two years in office.

At cantonal level, he was a member of the Uri corporation council from 1900 to 1912 and was Uri district administrator from 1901 to 1920 , which he presided over in the 1912/13 year of office. In 1924 he was elected to the government council and was there in front of the poor and guardianship directorate . He only resigned from this office upon his death.

Albin Gnos made a significant contribution to the building of churches in Bristen from 1910 to 1912. He also supported the construction of the connecting road Amsteg - St. Anton from 1910 to 1912 and its continuation to the Schachenbrücke and into the Frentschenberg. In general, his main merit was promoting Bristen.
