Josef Furrer

Josef Furrer (born September 23, 1869 in Silenen ; † April 21, 1925 there , entitled to live in Silenen) was a Swiss politician ( KVP ).

biography

Furrer attended industrial schools in Roveredo and Freiburg . He later worked as a notary from 1912 to 1925 and became the owner of the Hotel zum Engel in Amsteg through his wife's inheritance .

He was the community clerk from 1886 to 1901 and from 1886 to 1911 the post holder in his home town of Silenen. From 1902 to 1906 he was the local council president for four years .

He had from 1896 to 1898 as a major political mandates Uri district , from 1898 to 1914 as Councilor of the Canton of Uri , and from 1907 to 1908 and from 1911 to 1912 as Landammann held. In 1901 he was elected to the Council of States and had a seat there until 1911, before he was elected to the National Council and remained there until 1914.

Josef Furrer was considered an exponent of the Conservative People's Party and renounced his mandates after the bankruptcy of the Uri savings fund. He achieved merits in advising the introductory law to the civil code and in realizing the college in Altdorf.
