John Kiprotich

John Kiprotich (* 1989 ) is a Kenyan long-distance runner who specializes in road running.

In 2008 he finished second behind his compatriot Benson Kipchumba Barus in the Udine half marathon and ran this distance for the first time in under an hour with a time of 59:44 minutes. At the 20 km from Paris he finished fourth. In 2009 he finished sixth in the Rotterdam half marathon and increased his personal best to 59:23 minutes. A few weeks later he made his debut over the marathon distance at the Frankfurt Marathon , which ended for him in 21st place after 2:15:51 h.

In 2010, Kiprotich was ninth in the RAK half marathon and second in the Route du Vin . He opened the 2011 season in February with a fourth place in the RAK half marathon. In April he made the breakthrough over the full marathon distance when he won the Vienna City Marathon in 2:08:29 h. In autumn he finished seventh in the Amsterdam Marathon .

In 2012 he was fourth in Roma - Ostia and third in the Vienna City Marathon and the Toronto Waterfront Marathon .

In 2015 he finished fifth at Roma - Ostia.
