politics

Fischer has been a member of the CDU in Vaihingen an der Enz since 1980 . He was a long-time member of the Vaihingen municipal council and has been a member of the Ludwigsburg district council since 1994. On February 6, 2010, Fischer took over the direct mandate in the constituency of Vaihingen for Günther Oettinger in the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg . In July 2010, Fischer applied to the CDU nomination meeting as a direct candidate for the 2011 state elections ; his opponent was Konrad Epple . In the first ballot, Fischer was with 172 votes ahead of Epple with 171 votes and thus narrowly missed the necessary absolute majority. In the second ballot, Epple won (171 votes) against Fischer (168 votes). Thus Fischer left the state parliament after the state elections (in which Epple won the direct mandate for the CDU).
