Albrecht Franke

Albrecht Franke (born February 10, 1950 in Seehausen , Stendal district ) is a German former high school teacher and writer .

Life

Albrecht Franke was born into a family of railway workers in Seehausen in the Altmark . After graduating from high school in 1968, he studied German and Slavic studies at the Martin Luther University in Halle-Wittenberg , graduating as a qualified teacher. After completing his studies, he was employed as a teacher for German and Russian in Wanzleben and has lived in Stendal since 1977 . In May 1973 he took part in a district poetry seminar led by Christa Johannsen , whose personality served as a role model for Franke. Then he made his first attempts at writing in the circle of writing workers ; From 1983 he worked as an author of stories, the best known of which is the Exaggerated Situation , in which a student suicide attempt is discussed. From 1991 to 2013 Franke worked at the Winckelmann-Gymnasium in Stendal as a teacher for German and philosophy . There he founded the writing circle "Es wird ..." for children and young people in 2005 and directed it until his retirement. From April 2014 to March 2016 he was chairman of the Association for the Promotion of Writers Magdeburg eV

In addition to writing radio plays and publishing books, Franke also writes essays critical of literature for daily newspapers and the literary magazine Ort der Augen.
