Albrecht Winter (born June 14, 1970 in Rüdersdorf near Berlin ) is a German violinist , orchestra leader and university professor .

Live and act

Albrecht Winter comes from a family of cantors in which he was influenced early on by the Protestant church music tradition and making music at home. After attending a special music school, he studied violin with Klaus Hertel at the Leipzig University of Music from 1988 to 1993 . During his studies he won a prize at the International Johann Sebastian Bach Competition in 1992 . From 1996 to 1997 he taught as an assistant at the Leipzig University for a year and a half.

From 1997 Albrecht Winter was concertmaster of the 2nd violins in the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra for six years . Since 2003 he has been professor for violin and subject didactics at the Wuppertal department of the Cologne University of Music .

During their studies in Leipzig, some music (not singing!) And theology students with a penchant for early music got together and formed the vocal ensemble "Collegium Canticorum", whose 2nd bass Albrecht Winter is still today. Rehearsal weekends and summer concerts with an expanded repertoire bring them together from all parts of Germany.

In 1989, some students at the Leipzig University discovered their love for salon music . Together with one of their teachers, they founded the Cappuccino Salon Orchestra , whose violin soloist and conductor is Albrecht Winter and which can look back on a 20-year tradition. The repertoire of the musicians, who now belong to the most varied of orchestras, is presented in themed concerts, ranging from arrangements of classical music to swinging film hits. The rights concerts of the Cappuccino Salon Orchestra have been an integral part of the concert range of the Gewandhaus in Leipzig for years . A hallmark of Winters' concerts is its informative, witty and entertaining conference .

From 2004 to 2013 Albrecht Winter was artistic director of the Leipzig New Bach Collegium Musicum . Here, in addition to secular Bach music, he placed the focus on that of his predecessors and reconstructed the historical Gewandhaus concerts of the 18th century.

Albrecht Winter is married and has three children.
