Dala Airport ( IATA : BLE, ICAO : ESSD) is the joint airport of the Swedish municipalities of Borlänge and Falun . The airport name is a marketing name of the operating company Dalaflyget. The airport is called Borlänge Airport (Borlänge flygplats) in the Swedish Aviation Manual . It is located on the outskirts of Borlänge , in the Romme district. Due to the marketing name of the airport, it could be confused with the Swedish airport Dala-Järna, ICAO code ESKD.
history
The airport was built during World War II and modernized in 1961. The first airlines landed in Dala in mid-1960. In 1972 the new terminal was completed and Dalaflyget AB took over the airport. Until 2007 the airport was owned by the Swedish Air Force . The highest number of passengers was 210,000 in 1989. In 2006 there were approximately 33,000 passengers, a decrease compared to the previous year. The reason for this is a faster train connection to Stockholm.
Runways
The airport has one runway : 14/32 (asphalt), which is 2313 meters long and 45 meters wide, is equipped with ILS . For the radio navigation are VOR / DME and NDB available.
