The military airfield Jokkmokk ( English Jokkmokk Airbase , Swedish Jokkmokks flygbas ) is a Swedish military airfield area at the height of the Arctic Circle. The airbase is located about nineteen kilometers southeast of Jokkmokk , northwest of Vuollerim in the province of Norrbotten .
The airfield, which was built in the 1940s as an air force base at Anl 189 , originally consisted of four airfields that belonged to a disused air force base of the Bas90 system base ( Flygvapnet kod Fält 49 ). Jokkmokk Airfield 49 was the largest base in the Bas90 system.
In 1979, the eastern runway 14/32 was expanded with a runway length of 2000 meters, which can be used by civil aviation under the ICAO code ESNJ . Jokkmokk Airbase is now used by the Swedish Air Force only as a training airfield for transport and helicopter units.
