Klaus Hertel

Klaus Hertel (born January 14, 1936 in Leipzig ) is a German violinist and composer .

Life

From 1953 to 1958 Hertel studied violin with Ruth Kestner-Boche and composition with Paul Schenk at the "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" University of Music in Leipzig . He then worked as a professor for violin and specialist methodology in Leipzig. Among other things, he taught the later concertmasters Frank-Michael Erben , Albrecht Winter and Thomas Timm . He played in the Gewandhaus Orchestra under Franz Konwitschny . His compositions are published by Edition Peters and by Friedrich Hofmeister Musikverlag . He is a juror at international music competitions such as the Henri Marteau International Violin Competition .
