Aldemo Serafim Garcia Júnior (born April 24, 1959 in Natal , Rio Grande do Norte Brazil ) is a Brazilian diplomat. He has the rank of Ministro de Segunda Classe da Carreira de Diplomata do Ministério das Relações Exteriores .

Career

Garcia Júnior is the son of Aldemo Serafim Garcia and Joana D'Arc de Andrade Garcia.

In 1983 Garcia Júnior joined the Foreign Service of Brazil as third-degree secretary. Between 1984 and 1986 he worked as a consultant in the Asia and Oceania I Department, from 1986 to 1988 as a consultant in the Exhibition and Tourism Department and in 1986 at the Brazilian Industrial Exhibition in Cape Verde as head of the pavilion. In the same year he held the same office at the International Food Fair in Hong Kong and in 1987 as Director of the Pavilion at the World Telecommunications Exhibition in Geneva .

Garcia Júnior served as second secretary from 1988 to 1991 at the embassy in Paris , 1990 as chargé d'affaires at the embassy in Yaoundé ( Cameroon ) and from 1992 to 1994 at the embassy in Algiers as second secretary and chargé d'affaires. This was followed by an advisory position in the Secretariat for Relations at the National Congress from 1994 to 1997, in 1996 the post of Chargé d'Affaires in representation at the Embassy in Lomé ( Togo ) and from 1997 to 2001 the post of first secretary of the delegation to the Organization of American States (OAS) in Washington, DC In 1998 Garcia Júnior headed the Brazilian delegation to the XXIII. Ordinary meeting of the Inter-American Commission on Substance Abuse Control in Tegucigalpa . From 2001 to 2003 he was executive secretary in the organizing committee of the Ministry of Culture for President Juscelino Kubitschek's centenary birthday , from 2003 to 2005 advisor for international relations to the president of the Chamber of Deputies and from 2005 to 2006 special advisor for the MRE and parliamentary affairs.

In 2006 Garcia Júnior became Deputy Consul General in Toronto . He held the office until 2011, but was also acting chargé d'affaires of the Embassy in San Salvador in 2008, the Embassy in Kuwait in 2009 and the Consulate General in Nagoya ( Japan ) in the same year . From 2011 to 2013 Garcia Júnior headed the International Advisory Office of the Cabinet of the Minister of Communication. This was followed by the post of diplomatic advisor in the Committee on Foreign Relations and National Defense of the Federal Senate and a special advisor to the Minister in the institutional security office of the President of the Republic.

On January 29, 2016, Garcia Júnior was appointed by President Dilma Rousseff as the new Brazilian ambassador to East Timor . The Federal Senate was confirmed on February 23, 2016.
