Aldona Sobczyk competed in her first international race as part of the 1999 Biathlon Junior World Championships in Pokljuka and was 40th in the individual and 33rd in the sprint. She did not finish the chase. At the start of the 1999/2000 season , the Polish competed in the Biathlon World Cup for the first time in Hochfilzen and was 13th in a relay race alongside Magdalena Grzywa , Magdalena Gwizdoń and Anna Stera-Kustusz . In Pokljuka she contested her first individual race with a sprint, which she finished in 78th. The first international championship for women was the 1999 European Biathlon Championships in Izhevsk , where Sobczyk won silver in the relay race with Iwona Grzywa , Iwona Daniluk and Patrycja Szymura behind the Russian and before the Norwegian relay. At the Biathlon European Championships 2000 in Kościelisko Sobczyk was 37th of the individual, 30th of the sprint, 35th of the pursuit and on the side of Iwona Grzywa, Magdalena Gwizdoń and Magdalena Grzywa relay sixth. This was followed by participation in the Biathlon World Championships 2000 at Holmenkollen in Oslo . There Sobczyk achieved her best World Cup result with the 47th place in the individual, finished 54th in the sprint and retired from the pursuit as a lapped runner. With the season in the same line-up as at the European Championship, she was 12.
