Anna Stera-Kustusz

Anna Stera-Kustusz (born November 14, 1974 in Duszniki-Zdrój ) is a former Polish biathlete . Stera-Kustusz took part in three Olympic Games and six world championships .

Anna Stera-Kustusz began biathlon in 1991 and started for the MKS Duszniki-Zdrój association . The student from Duszniki-Zdrój is married. The Pole made her debut in 1993 as 58th in an individual in Oberhof in the Biathlon World Cup . In Borowez , she started for the first time in a biathlon world championship and won the bronze medal in the team competition with Zofia Kiełpińska , Krystyna Liberda and Helena Mikołajczyk . The highlight of their second season was their participation in the 1994 Olympic Games in Lillehammer . In Norway she was 62nd in the sprint and eleventh in the relay. A year after the Games, she was 17th in a single on the Olympic track for the first time to collect points. At the 1995 Biathlon World Championships in Antholz , Stera was 53rd in the individual, 32nd in the sprint and 15th with the Polish relay. A year later in Ruhpolding was 23rd in the individual best World Cup result. She achieved an even better result as 17th in the 1997 individual in Osrblie . After the World Cup, Stera was able to achieve her first result in the top ten and the only result on the podium in an individual in Nozawa Onsen , the pre-Olympic test competition, in third place.

At the games she reached the following year with sixth place in the sprint, her best Olympic result, she was also 17th in the individual and 13th in the relay. At the 1998 World Cup , she was also in the pursuit, which was based on the Olympic sprint, eleventh. The 1998/99 season was Stera's best in the World Cup. She achieved results among the top ten three times, and in the overall World Cup she reached 27th place. The 1999 biathlon world championships in Kontiolahti were not quite as successful . In the sprint, the Pole was only 39th, in the pursuit 29th, but the seventh relay rank was good. Due to the weather conditions in Finland, parts of the World Cup were relocated to the Holmenkollen in Oslo . There Stera reached place 31 in the individual. In 2000 she stopped and did not start biathlon again until the beginning of 2001, but could no longer build on her old achievements. In 2001 she started in Pokljuka for the last time at a World Cup, where 52nd place in the sprint was the best result. The following year, Stera ran their third and final Olympic Games in Salt Lake City . In the individual, she reached 54th place, in the sprint and pursuit 43rd place. After the games Stera ended her career.
